I love this design. The seats as kneecaps/pads is brilliant. Assuming i'm looking at this right, it's great to see a car transformer where the front end of the car makes up the bottom half of the body instead of the top. I think it would make transforming while moving a very different and interesting action....

sorry... i actually thought you were talking about a different drawing and before i realized, my son slammed his fist on the keyboard and the comment submitted.
lol
aaaaanywho, your comment is one that i normally one that i won't reply to (no offense). here's why 1.considering this is a fancharacter and a transformer at that... proportions (in those to aspects especially) are very much up for interpertation. 2. your comment seemed a little rude. probably just because over the internet, you can't tell voice inflection. you may have been joking, but it's hard to assume that. starting a critique with "...uh" is not a good way to objectively critique any piece of art. 3. the person i did the art for is more than happy, so i really shouldn't take the time to even reply to your comment...

sorry bout that. i've been fielding a lot of similar comments on my art and random art that i find around DA and forums and have been meaning to post something like this for a long time.

Really? I post like that ALL the time, to actually speak what I mean. Sorry about the wrong comment...
Well, one thing is, I can't draw THAT good. BTW, the color scheme does fit together, and your style does make it look amazing... Oh and I noticed the license plate. Heheh... You could remove the shinyness, it'd look better without.

And I have 1 question. Do you know where to buy a good scanner for cheap?

it's ok. i read some comments some times and wonder why people take time to say/word things the way they do. like i said, it was just one more comment that made me want to bite back. i figured you probably didn't mean. sorry to jump at you.
it has nothing to do with your drawing ability or you in particular at all. sometimes the way you say something can be interperated completely different from what you mean. you may thing the legs are long, but saying it like "i agree with ____, but i would have made the legs a little shorter" or "this looks ___, why did you decide to draw it that way?"

as far as my scanner, i bought it at the base exchange where i'm stationed. >< the one i had before this i think was an hp that i picked up for about $40 with the pc i bought from their site, but that was 6 years ago.

mostly... i take a female form and wrap robot parts around it. which probably doesn't always work in figuring out a proper transformation (if it's a tf)... but most of the time it seems to be alright. male characters are usually big and bulky... so i go at them with a more angular approach...for the females though... just draw a normal looking female figure, make sure there's some organic lines (as opposed to straight) and add boxes sparingly. XD

!!! OMG !!! That is great, Will!!! Thank ya so much. When Karla saw it she burst into laughter. At first when I told her that this was her character she didn't get it (she's not a transfan at all). But once i explained it to her, she fell in love with it. She also couldn't understand why I couldn't draw it for her. But as soon as I showed her how hard it was to do something like this, with all the little details, she appreciated it even more. Karla says thank you as do I. this was a great gift Will. Thak you.

P.S. She loves the fact that her name is on the license plate. Nice touch.

nah. there was just a design for him but i guess has-tak didn't get the license to produce him from vw. they had made a prototype jazz porche also that never saw production because of licensing.
here's what bb would have looked like: [link];pic=BTC-complete24.jpg&dispsize=1000&start=0

if you click through some of the pages in that link you can see some of the other scrapped ideas and designs for other alternators. ^_^

The first image wasn't working, but the rest of those did seem pretty cool- especially Jazz. Its a bit of a bummer that the Alternators are hard to find around here in the first place- I only have two in my TF collection (out of 103 or so figures) I'm looking out for the Optimus from that series in particular, as it'll be my 10th Optimus

i really liked jazz's original alt design. looks like the design team had originally planned to make the characters direct updated homages to their original designs where they could.
the optimus figure is surprisingly good. i've got about 10 alts now (actually 9 alternators and 1 binaltech figure)... all of them are incredibly nice figures. ^^

Yeah, the Alternator/BT figures are nice- though I still cant get any to transform to vehicle mode without taking them apart XD I'm looking forward to Wheeljack, as reprolabels.com has made a G1 wheeljack sticker set for Alternator Wheeljack X3
